The Galerie des Victoires specialises in clocks and ornamental bronzes from the mid-18th and early 19th centuries, a time when French horology was admired around the world.
This was the period, in fact, when Louis XVI brought together, under the single designation of « bronzier », or bronzemaker, all the craft skills of horological design – draftsmen, sculptors, foundrymen and gilders.
Fred Avizou, a decorator and design architect with a taste for patinated Gustavian-Scandinavian furniture and curious ornaments, displays his clockmakers’ bronzes as free-standing artworks in modern interior settings.
